Betrayal & Abandonment
[supplementary processing for Life Repair - FreeScientology Grade III]
BETRAYAL & ABANDONMENT
Betrayal can stop life in its tracks. Experiencing a betrayal of Trust stops life force flowing and can completely stall a persons spiritual progress.
Having techniques for recovering from Betrayal and/or Abandonment, then, is paramount. A betrayal is often a spiritual crisis and emergency, since in extreme cases, it can be cause for suicidal thoughts or violence.
This list of processes is developed mainly for use in Scientology auditing processing, but the first steps might be useful in getting a person started who has no access to an auditor or who knows nothing of Scientology. The process questions can actually be answered working on oneself, using a sheet of paper or notebook in a technique we call, "journaling." ("Auditor" = "listener")
Here are the directions for journaling work:
http://freescientologycenter.org/drop-directions.html
The first thing is to understand the difference between the fundamental, natural right to SELF-DEFENSE, and rash actions that can proceed from the temptation to retaliation.
In a betrayal, self-defense is often too late. The betrayal may be discovered long after the damage has already been done. One should certainly reflect on how self-defense might have been applied, and should be applied in the future, but any counter-measures that are not obviously in the spirit of justice should be saved for after doing some work in understanding ones condition. You stop and look things over so that rash and regretful actions are not taken that might incur the karmic debt of over-reaction.
The next natural law principle that should be looked over, is the freewill sovereignty of the individual. Yours was certainly violated and betrayed. Unfortunately as it may be, in a freewill universe, your friends and family, or wrongly trusted authorities, are human and exercised their sovereign, natural law-based freedom of choice if they betrayed you. When it is such a wrong choice affecting you, it is an invitation to hate - not just them - but even the people around them that may have played some role in allowing it to happen. Because of the magnitude of the betrayal making it a trauma, the understandable and common trauma response of generalizing the antagonist can extend to "all women/all men" or "everybody" - or even an unjust world or "bad" Universe.
Note* - The ongoing and destructive implementation of "government" is in large part dependent on betrayed and traumatized subjects who demand "the authorities" put injustices, betrayals and disappointed expectations "to rights." Government only brings about further injustice and that is in itself, just more betrayal.
If you are in the middle of a betrayal and recovering from the shock, it is in fact, an emergency, and after you have run out of people to talk to and reasonable things you can do about it, it is suggested you get these feelings and thoughts out of the spinning-around in your mind, and down onto paper:
(You can also use these processes using communication, to listen to another and get them acknowledged, which accomplishes a very helpful relief.)
0A. (Emergency) Step Zero
http://freescientologycenter.org/
* Has Your Trust in Someone Been Betrayed? - Tell (me) About That
* Did Someone Betray You? - Tell (me) About That
* Did You Betray Someone? - Tell (me) About That
* Have You Done Anything to Betray the Trust You Had in Yourself? - Tell (me) About That
The next series is best done with a Scientology auditor using an e-meter, but can be also used to extend the work done in step 0A. Write all the specific details you can think of.
(Time-Place-Situation-Actors-Actions-Events-Perceptions-Thoughts-Emotions-Efforts-Details...)
0B. (Audited) Step Zero

* Has There Been an Abuse of Trust? - Tell (me) About That
(F3) * Has Another Been Betrayed? - Tell (me) About That
(F1) * Has Anyone Betrayed the Trust You Had in Them? - Tell (me) About That

0C. DSPS - Betrayal
(write down your answers to the alternating questions of each set, one set at a time, until you are out of answers and feeling complete, or have had an astounding realization and release)
0C-1a. How Has Betrayal Been Handled?
0C-1b. How Have You Been Handled?
0C-2a. How Have You Handled Betrayal?
0C-2b. How Has Betrayal Handled You?
1. Repetitive Processes
(After doing the above, it's time to zoom out and look at the general subject. This also proofs one up for withstanding any future betrayals that may happen.)
- answer the same question - one question at a time, repeated - until you are out of answers and feeling complete, or have had a very good feeling of relief or release:
(only go on to the next question once you have achieved completion - if you run on too far, spot the moment you had a feeling of relief and declare the process complete back at that point with no further work necessary)
1A. * What Would Be a Betrayal?
1B. * What Expectation Has Been Betrayed?
1C. * What is a Betrayal?
* What is Not a Betrayal? (alternate these back-and-forth in your answers)
1D. * How Have You Handled Abandonment?
1E. * How Have You Handled Betrayal?
1F. * What Betrayal Could You Confront?
* What Betrayal Would You Rather Not Confront? (alternating-question process)
1G. * What Problem Have You Had With Betrayal?
* What Solutions Have You Had for That Problem?
1H. * If You Could Talk to a Betrayer, What Would You Talk About?
* Okay, If You Were Talking to a Betrayer, What Would You Say, Exactly?
1-I. * What Condition Have You Encountered That Was a Betrayal?
* How Have You Handled It?
(for this next process, take up one betrayal at a time, and answer all follow-up questions to it before taking up another instance)
2. * Tell Me About a Betrayal
- What Problem was the Betrayer Trying to Solve?
- How Else Was That Betrayal Justified?
- What Led Up to That Betrayal?
(depending on how recent - use the most appropriate wording of these two - in some cases, both)
- What Were the Consequences of That Betrayal?
(and/or) - What Might Be the Consequences of That Betrayal?
- What Happened to the Communication?
- What Expectation Failed?
- What Happened to Your Reality?
- What Happened to the Understanding?
- What Happened to the Affinity?
- What Happened to YOU?
3. More Repetitive Processes
(if you are able to work with another person, these can actually be used first)
3A. * Where Would a Betrayed Person Be Safe?
3B. * Where Would a Betrayed Person Find Help?
3C. * From Where Could a Betrayed Person Regain Control?
(for a recent or highly-charged betrayal)
4. Represent the Betrayal in Clay
(label each part of the representation as you go - cut little tabs from cards or folders)
- then stand back and look at it, modifying it as needed, until it feels complete
- get it acknowledged (and at least take a picture)
- write up what occurred
(solo version - use 5B if you have an auditor)
5A. * Recall a Betrayal
- When Was It?
(note down any description of the time - exact, if possible, or general time-of-day, time-of-year, etc.)
(you may also use these follow-up questions)
IN THAT BETRAYAL -
a. WHAT ATTITUDE WAS NOT RECEIVED?
b. WHAT REALITY WAS NOT PERCEIVED (SEEN)?
c. WHAT COMMUNICATION WAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED?
d. [SG] WHAT UNDERSTANDING FAILED?
Advanced (having another auditor is highly recommended from here, but not required)
(this is audited using an e-meter, if possible)
5B. R2H - BETRAYAL
* Recall a Betrayal
- When? (this is dated on the e-meter if it is not volunteered by the person)
- In the Betrayal You Recalled,
-HAD AN ENGRAM BEEN MISSED?
-HAD A WITHHOLD BEEN MISSED?
-HAD SOME EMOTION BEEN [REJECTED]?
-HAD SOME AFFINITY BEEN [REFUSED]?
-HAD A REALITY BEEN REJECTED?
-[HAD A COMMUNICATION BEEN CUT SHORT?]
-HAD A COMMUNICATION BEEN IGNORED?

7B. * From Where Could a Being Create Loyalty?
7C. * From Where Could a Being Experience Betrayal?
* From Where Could a Being Create Betrayal? (alternating process)
8. QUAD RECALLS (run these in the order given, if running off the meter - otherwise, with a meter, use longest-reading Flow and then check them all newly after each completion of running a flow)
F3 RECALL A TIME OTHERS CAUSED OTHERS TO BE BETRAYED
F1 RECALL A TIME YOU WERE BETRAYED
F2 RECALL A TIME YOU CAUSED ANOTHER TO BE BETRAYED
F0 RECALL A TIME YOU CAUSED YOURSELF TO BE BETRAYED
(Advanced - use of Scientology terms - clear these up first)
9. DISAGREEMENT FACTORS IN BETRAYAL
* What Betrayal Have You Disagreed With?
* IN RELATION TO THAT BETRAYAL IS THERE:
1. AN ALTERED SEQUENCE?
2. OMITTED DATA?
3. DROPPED-OUT TIME?
4. A FALSEHOOD?
5. AN ALTERED IMPORTANCE?
6. A WRONG TARGET?
7. A WRONG SOURCE?
8. CONTRARY FACTS?
9. ADDED TIME?
10. ADDED INAPPLICABLE DATA?
11. AN INCORRECTLY INCLUDED DATUM?
12. ASSUMED 'IDENTITIES' WHICH WERE NOT IDENTICAL?

17. DEV-T? [SG - "Developed Traffic" (wasted actions, effort, time, etc.)]
18. CROSS ORDERS?
19. COUNTER INTENTION?
20. [AN INJUSTICE?]
(each answer is taken earlier-similar - i.e. "Is There an Earlier-Similar Time There Was/Were..." to Very Good Indicators = a feeling of relief, often accompanied by a realization)
(Advanced)
10. R3RA Narrative (or TIR = Traumatic Incident Reduction procedure) on "most recent Betrayal" (handle these separately if they do not come up on a chain of incidents going back in time)
(Advanced)
11. False Purpose Rundown (FPRD) Procedure on Betrayals
Assess:
(F1) - A Time You Were Betrayed
(F2) - A Time You Betrayed Another
(F3) - A Time You Witnessed a Betrayal
(F0) - A Time You Let Yourself Be Betrayed
for longest read
Then: Tell me about the most recent instance of ___(best reading from assessment)___
Then: Follow FPRD procedure by taking the most recent instance earlier-similar to Basic.
Then: (F2, F0) Normal FPRD Procedure and Commands - You are asking for an evil purpose.
(F1, F3) You are looking for a Postulate (Service Computation, actually) about betrayal, so this is what you ask for (it -could- be an evil purpose of ones own, but may rather be a computation that continually lures the person into betrayal). Run this earlier-similar to Basic and then get the Prior Confusion as in FPRD procedure.
