FreeScientology Innovation #1 - Dennis Stephens Power Series (DSPS)
"Processing" - whether done solo ("journaling") or as a team ("co-auditing" or professional auditor - auditor = listener) is the means by which a person is enabled to convert areas of uninspected trauma into usable life experience for the purpose of self-improvement.
Before I explain why this procedure may very well be the ultimate in processing commands, I would like to point out that there are potentially thousands of processes that can be useful in getting a person to focus on an area and inspect various aspects of it. Done in a safe setting with the right process on the correct level of difficulty, repetitive processing leads to release and renewal to such a degree that it makes a powerful supplement to life improvement - from the very bottom (coming up from criminality and/or severe trauma abuse) to the top (already happy and successful, but seeking further improvement). In the future, many of these processes will be published or linked here, including the successful line-ups used in Hubbard Scientology known as the "Grades" (named in FreeScientology as: Grade 0 - Communication; Grade I - Problems; Grade II - Responsibility; Grade III - Life Repair; Grade IV - Mental Mechanisms).
At this point I would like to provide the processes and basic instructions, and leave an article of explanations below all that, for those who would like to know more. This process series is perfect for journaling (solo work) as well as for co-auditing. It works great for beginners but it also works great to the very top of the processing Bridge (to Freedom, Love and Self-Respect).
Step 0
Determine by questioning, self-questioning, or read of a biofeedback device, a "hot" area - or area of strong interest or significance for you or your auditing partner. This can be any person, place or thing which has given you any difficulty, starting with that which has given you the most difficulty, and going down the list as far as needed to discharge trauma and confusion surrounding the person, type of person, subject or area.
Example: You are having trouble with relationships or finding a partner. You choose the wording that seems to fit you best (women, a woman, girls, a girlfriend, [any specific person by their name, such as "Linda"], relationships, disagreements, love, sex, marriage, fights, encounters, dates, romantic partners, etc.), then after completing a complete process cycle on the one at the top of your list you might then do other wordings on your list once you see how this works. You can use plural ("women") or singular ("a woman") for general categories (which is the best starting point), and use specific names for specific persons or places.
Choose carefully and be sure that you are interested enough that it is important enough to you to persist through some difficulty, or your processing goals may fail, because it is very important to ALWAYS COMPLETE ANY PROCESSING CYCLE THAT YOU START.
(More examples and suggestions will be added below.)
Step 1
Write out the process command wordings (a&b) in full, at the top of your worksheet or journal page (most people divide their worksheet in two columns for general notes - if you are working solo, it is important to write out complete answers so that your thoughts are processed in full).
Clear up the word "Handle" using any basic dictionary. Use all definitions that fit. [Important note: If you have ever been on Scientology staff, do not use their definition of "handled" as a "completed product" or as "Done Sir!" - we simply want to process the effort of actions and reactions associated with the subject we are working on.]
So fill in the blank with the subject wording you have chosen. Adjust for better wording if it sounds awkward or does not communicate well to you, before you start processing it. Each subject wording will be used for two sets as follows:
Process Set 1
1a - How Have/Has ___ Been Handled?
1b - How Have -You- Been Handled?
[1a examples: "How Have Women Been Handled?" -or- "How Has a Woman Been Handled?" - for 1b accept whatever answer given, even if it is not on the subject being directly addressed on the other questions - this is a chance to discharge anything that comes to mind as to how one has been (mis)handled]
Simply ask the questions 1a and answer it fully, then 1b and answer it fully, then continue without variation, 1a, 1b, 1a, 1b... and so on, until you either have a major realization and stable "win" in the area, or have run out of answers. When you feel you are out of answers, always check a second time and then check the other question and back another time, until you are satisfied that is all the answers there are for you, and you feel it is complete. Be persistent on this point if you are not fully satisfied it is complete and that you have at least made some progress with a fair result.
Finish this set completely, before going on to Set 2.
Process Set 2
2a - How Have You Handled ___?
2b - How Have/Has ___ Handled You?
[2b may seem awkward at first. Example - "How Has Winter Handled You?" might feel strange at first, but what we are looking for are effects which that subject has had on you, so even if it is not a person - just give it a go, and you will experience this and process the effects.]
Simply ask the questions 2a and answer it fully, then 2b and answer it fully, then continue without variation, 2a, 2b, 2a, 2b... and so on, until you either have a major realization and stable "win" in the area, or have run out of answers. When you feel you are out of answers, always check a second time and then check the other question and back another time, until you are satisfied that is all the answers there are for you, and you feel it is complete. BACKGROUND
It was while cleaning up a property one day listening to a lecture recorded by Dennis Stephens - original Dianeticist and first certified Hubbard Dianetics Auditor in England - that I recognized the wisdom and depth of a series of processes Dennis was suggesting for use in taking apart and handling any subject that was proving too tough to resolve using his advanced procedures.
It is strongly apparent to me that Dennis Stephens, developer of "The Resolution of the Mind" (tromhelp.com) had a deep understanding of the value and use of Hubbard's 1965 Power Processing (co-developed by John McMaster). It has been pointed out to me that Power Processing accomplishes "Effort Processing" and in doing so, most fully accomplishes the processing of effort and force on the case without having to individually process many incidents (see also - C/S Series
Dennis Stephens developed an even more direct method here, which he says (quite correctly) undercuts the running of overts and withholds (as on Grade II). His instructions are to run each process as a single process, one at a time (and the order he suggests would come out as, "2a, 2b, 1a, 1b" - per the process commands I have given above).
The innovations I have added are:
1) using a balanced processing arrangement ("a-b-a-b-a-b...") which is generally safer and more efficient (his method processes deeper, at the possible expense of more overall time and more difficulty attaining the end result).
2) switching the order of processes for a smoother gradient approach
[when I locate the exact lecture and/or transcript Dennis Stephens gave on this I will post it here]
FURTHER APPLICATIONS
It is my opinion that we have finally arrived at the "ultimate" (as in most efficient in time-results ratio, and in versatility to any subject, person or archetype) process series for addressing any desired subject area. This now becomes a valuable tool for case supervision and a place in handling almost any case situation. If you are practicing as we are, mostly a Hubbard Scientology approach to processing and Life Repair, it would fit somewhere like this:
1) (if needed and appropriate) - (Severe) Quad Rudiments on a person and/or L1C on the person or area that needs case address
2) DSPS (this Dennis Stephens Power Series) on a person or item that needs case address
3) (if needed and appropriate) PrepCheck to probe further for any aspect not already addressed
You should be able to accomplish a thorough Life Repair using this approach (be sure to study and implement C/S Series 1-9 especially, and further into the series as you can continue the study).
BONUS FOR CO-AUDIT TEAMS WHO WOULD LIKE TO RUN POWER PROCESSING
In the earliest days of Grade Chart Processing (starting in 1965), and up to modern times, the prerequisite to running Power Processing was the "Mini-Grades" (final, main processes for each of the Grades 0-IV). Well, here are the suggested wordings for a process line-up created using the original 1960 PreHav Scale and then the Grades. These constitute a mini-Bridge of their own, and an easy-to-follow and simple process line-up for a beginning co-audit team or a solo auditor doing "journaling" and for now, will only be posted here on this webpage. It is not a substitute for a thorough working of Scientology Expanded Grades, but it should help a great deal in self-improvement progress.
Step 0 - Clean up your diet by eliminating sugar and processed or inorganic foods, as much as you can.
Step 1 - Do the "Answers to Drugs Objectives" from the Scientology Handbook (if you must work alone, do physical exercise as part of your improvement program, and do "Take a Walk" and "Touch and Let Go" and other processes from the chapters, "Solutions for the Workplace" and "Solutions for a Dangerous Environment").
Step 2 - Processes (use the above DSPS instructions for these processes given)
(psychologists will notice Maslow's "Hierarchy of Needs" evident, as well as gradient levels found in Scientology as the 1960 "HCCI" - Help-Control-Communication-Interest - which were further modified by the Scientology Zero and the Scientology Grades system developed in 1964)
